Radeon Vega 8 or Combination of Intel graphics + Nvidia GeForce 940MX is better.?
Two laptops im comparing are,
RedmiBook 14 (Ryzon 5 3700U + Radeon vega 8)
Hp Pavilion 15 cc140tx (Intel i5 8250U + Nvidia GeForce 940MX)
Please tell Me overall powerful laptop from these two? , (For like video editing & Basic Gaming)
There's no AMD apu as Ryzen 3700U with vega 8 graphics.
They actually have,
- Ryzen 3500U with vega 8 graphics
- Ryzen 3700U with vega 10 graphics
When comparing these APUs against i5 8250u + 940mx combo there are very close in performance, they vary by just few percent.
This includes both cpu & gpu performance, this list is from slowest to fastest.
- Ryzen 3500U + vega 8
- i5 8250u + 940mx
- Ryzen 3700U + vega 10
Ryzen 3700U has the highes performance by a slight edge but it's less power efficient compared to the i5 8250u. So you can choose between more performance vs better battery life.
Also please consider repairability when buying a laptop, I think it would be more harder to find parts for the Redmibook because Xiaomi products are not widespread in Sri lanka compared to other established brands like HP,Asus & Dell.
And also AMD recently announced ryzen 4000 series laptop CPUs which have both better performance & power efficiency compared to ryzen 3000 series laptop CPUs. But they didn't give a proper release date therefore it might take a while before arriving to the market.
*APU - AMD CPUs with built-in graphics are called as APUs
