I have a Lenovo ThinkCenter MT-M 7034 PC. I had a problem where the PC didn't start on the fist power button pressed. I can hear the power comes up an stays up without any display. But the PC starts properly after press and hold the power button to power down and then press the power again. I took the machine to a repair place and they said that they need to reset the motherboard first and see if it works and it will take few hours. I got a call few hours later saying the machine is working properly after the mother board reset and replacement of the power supply unit.

I would like to know, what they must have done to reset the motherboard ? Is it just a jumper setting or any other process?

A motherboard reset can be done via few methods. the simplest is removing the battery of the motherboard. (This battery keeps the time running on your PC even when it's switched off.) This is a common method of trouble shooting when a PC doesn't boot.

But if it was only the PC didn't boot, but you heard all fans working, then I have no idea why they replaced the power unit! Did they say it was faulty? did they give you a warranty for the new PSU they replaced?

if my mind kept me right. yesterday he also write this issue. and i asked him about faulty power supply. because compay should give the faulty power supply to you. after the replacement. did to collect it?
